Congratulating Concord College on its one hundred twenty-fifth year
as an institution of higher education in West Virginia.
Whereas, On February 28, 1997, Concord College will reach the
one hundred twenty-fifth anniversary of its founding by the West
Virginia Legislature; and
Whereas, The professionalism and dedication of the faculty of
Concord College efficiently prepares its students for employment,
career advancement and the ability for lifelong learning; and
Whereas, Concord College has proven itself to be a strong and
indispensable member of the West Virginia state college system, as
ratified by national accreditation boards, the educational
community and employers on the regional, national and international
levels; and
Whereas, Concord College alumni have served the state of West
Virginia in both the public and private sectors in countless ways,
and currently number over 13,000 members; and
Whereas, Concord College assists in the economic development
of West Virginia through the expertise of its faculty, students and
staff; and
Whereas, Concord College is a nationally recognized leader in
service learning and the nurturing of community service; therefore,
be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby congratulates Concord College on the
occasion of the one hundred twenty-fifth125th anniversary of its
existence in West Virginia as an institutione of higher learning,
and for its commitment and dedication to the educational
advancement of West Virginia's citizens; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward
a copy of this resolution to the president of Concord College.
